Netflix has announced that its upcoming military drama Operation Safed Sagar will premiere globally on August 7. Inspired by one of the most challenging wartime operations undertaken by the Indian Air Force during the Kargil War, the series seeks to bring to life an untold chapter of modern Indian military history. Set against the backdrop of the 1999 conflict, it follows the Golden Arrows Squadron and highlights their role in a high-stakes aerial campaign that tested both strategy and resilience.
The series focuses not only on the operation itself but also on the individuals behind it, exploring the courage, sacrifice and emotional realities of those involved. By delving into the lives of Air Force pilots and their families, Operation Safed Sagar aims to present a human perspective on warfare, capturing the pressures of split-second decision-making and the personal cost of duty. It is positioned as a first-of-its-kind Indian series to deeply explore the world of fighter pilots and aerial combat on such a scale.
Directed by Oni Sen and created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava, the show features an ensemble cast including Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza and Prajakta Koli, along with Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin and Amrita Bagchi. The production is backed by Matchbox Shots and Feel Good Films.
