Director Susi Ganeshan has announced his comeback to Tamil cinema with a new film titled Orenda, marking his return nearly nine years after Thiruttu Payale 2 (2017).
The title was officially revealed following a promotional campaign that sparked curiosity among the public, with people across Chennai being asked about the meaning of “Orenda”. The reveal confirmed that Susi Ganeshan is helming the project, which is believed to be an action entertainer.
A newly released promo offers glimpses from the shooting spot, while keeping key details such as the plot and cast under wraps. The makers have also stated that around 85 per cent of the film’s shooting has already been completed.
Susi Ganeshan made his directorial debut with Five Star in 2002, introducing actors Prasanna and Kanika. In the same year, he directed Virumbukiren, followed by the successful Thiruttu Payale (2006), starring Jeevan and Sonia Agarwal. These films earned him Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and established him as a notable filmmaker.
His last release, Thiruttu Payale 2, featured Bobby Simha, Prasanna and Amala Paul and went on to be remade in Kannada as 100 and in Hindi as Ghuspaithiya.
With Orenda, Susi Ganeshan aims to make a strong comeback, and more details about the film are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
