Chennai, July 17:
The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026, clearing the way for counselling and admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical courses across the country.
Tamil Nadu has put up a strong performance, with at least 12 students scoring above 690 marks. Venktapathi Velayutham V A secured All India Rank 12 with a percentile of 99.99915%.
Other high scorers from the State include Jai Krishna, Srinika V, Samvitha P, Navithana B, Nikhil Sivananthan S, Rohit Mathew Ravindrarajan E, Sudar AM, Vanisha Sathish, Sabree G N, J Jayakrishna, and Janani Swethaa D R.
The examination, originally scheduled for May 3, was cancelled following a paper leak. A re-examination was conducted on June 21. Nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for the test, which was held at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.
11.21 lakh qualify
According to the NTA, 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified for admission to undergraduate medical and allied health courses. The agency ensured that results were announced on time to facilitate the start of the national counselling process without delay. More than 58% of the qualified candidates are women.
