Chennai, July 20:
DMK president and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin returned to Chennai on Sunday night after a two-week visit to London, where he attended the graduation ceremony of his grandson, Inbanidhi.
Stalin, accompanied by his wife Durga Stalin, arrived at the Chennai airport around 8.40 pm from Dubai after missing his earlier connecting flight due to a delay. Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin, who had travelled to London with his wife for the ceremony, returned on the same flight.
The DMK chief had departed from Chennai on July 4 for the United Kingdom. During his stay, he attended the graduation ceremony of Inbanidhi, son of Udhayanidhi Stalin, who completed his higher education at a university in London. Stalin congratulated his grandson following the conferring of the degree. The family also spent a few days together in London before beginning their return journey.
Stalin was initially scheduled to reach Chennai on Sunday morning. However, the London–Dubai flight was delayed, causing him to miss his onward connection. He later boarded an alternate flight from Dubai and arrived in the city in the evening.
Senior DMK leaders, former ministers, party functionaries, and a large number of cadres gathered at the airport to receive Stalin and Udhayanidhi. Supporters waved party flags and raised slogans, giving the leaders a rousing welcome.
