Chennai, July 27:
Edappadi K. Palaniswami is set to take key organizational decisions within the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) following the conclusion of a series of high-level consultations with 85 district-level functionaries.
The meetings, held over several days at the party headquarters in Royapettah, Chennai, focused on strengthening the party structure, reviewing grassroots performance, and planning strategies for upcoming elections. Senior leaders and district administrators participated in detailed discussions on improving coordination and mobilization.
A major outcome of the consultations is the reported decision to take strict action against functionaries who failed to attend the meetings. Sources indicate that Palaniswami is considering removing such office-bearers from their posts as part of efforts to enforce discipline and accountability within the party.
At the same time, internal dissent continues to pose a challenge. Leaders such as S. P. Velumani, Natham Viswanathan, and Thangamani have reportedly expressed differing views on certain party matters, adding to the internal tensions. The leadership is expected to address these issues as part of the restructuring process.
With local body elections approaching, Palaniswami is working on a comprehensive strategy to maximize the party’s electoral performance. Strengthening the party base, promoting active leaders, and sidelining inactive members are said to be key components of this plan.
Following the disciplinary actions and internal restructuring, the AIADMK leadership is planning to convene the Executive Committee meeting in August. The meeting is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the party’s political direction and electoral strategy in the coming months.
Overall, these developments signal a decisive move by Palaniswami to consolidate control, streamline the party organization, and prepare AIADMK for the upcoming electoral battles.
