Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will visit Tamil Nadu on August 1 to take part in the training camp for District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents in Mamallapuram, even as AICC General Secretary and K.C. Venugopal launched a sharp attack on the Union government over police action against students protesting against NEET in New Delhi.
Speaking to reporters at Chennai airport after arriving from Kochi, Venugopal, also a Member of Parliament, sought to know who had ordered the police crackdown on students protesting at Jantar Mantar.
Venugopal demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah respond in Parliament, particularly regarding the alleged attacks on women students.
“Who ordered the lathi charge on students? Who is responsible for the assault on women students? Amit Shah must answer these questions in Parliament,” he said, adding that the Opposition would not allow proceedings unless answers are given.
