Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and DMK President M K Stalin on Monday congratulted weightlifter Raja Muthupandi for winning a silver medal in the Men’s 65 kg category at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Vijay also announced a cash incentive of Rs 30 lakh for the Tamil Nadu weightlifter, a native of the southern Thoothukudi district, in recogntiion of his remarkable feat and making the state proud.
In his message, Vijay said ”My heatfelt congratulatons and appreciation to Raja Muthupadi from Thoothukudi district who has achieved a remarkable feat by wnning the Silver medal in the Men’s 65 kg weightlifting category at the 23rd Commonwealth games in Glasgow.”
“In recongition of his achivement, a cash incentive award of Rs 30 lakh will be given to him by the Tamil Nadu government”, he wrote on X.
“May his victory inspire new enthusaism and confidence among the youth. My bestwishes for him to achieve many more accomplishments and bring pride to the Indian nation and Tamil Nadu”, Vijay said.
In his greetings, Stalin said “my congratulations to Raja Muthupandi from Tamil Nadu who has brought pride to India by winning a silver medal in the 65 kg weightlifting competition at #CWG 2026.”
“May Raja Muthupandi’s success inspire many more global achievers to emerge from South Tamil Nadu! May our youth excel in sports as well as education!”, he said in a social media post.
