Chennai, July 28:

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday remarked that the TVK-led government in Tamil Nadu had initially launched its fight against corruption with strong intent and visible momentum, but that effort appears to have slowed down in recent months.

He acknowledged that when the government first came to power, it created a positive impression by taking firm steps against corruption and raising public expectations of transparency and accountability. However, according to him, that early momentum has not been sustained, leading to concerns about the consistency and seriousness of the administration’s anti-corruption drive.

Ramadoss expressed disappointment over what he described as a gradual decline in the government’s focus on tackling corruption. He suggested that while some improvements may have been visible initially, the pace of reforms and enforcement has weakened over time.

His remarks come amid increasing political scrutiny of the TVK government’s governance and its ability to deliver on key promises, particularly its commitment to clean administration. The criticism also reflects a broader concern among opposition leaders that anti-corruption measures need continuous enforcement rather than a strong start followed by reduced intensity.

The statement adds to the ongoing political discourse in Tamil Nadu, where the performance of the relatively new TVK administration is being closely watched by both supporters and critics.
