Chennai, July 31:

Accusing the ruling TVK of Vijay of being more scared than the BJP over the NEET protests and Economically Weaker Sections  (EWS) quota, Opposition DMK President and former CM MK.Stalin on Thursday condemned the Tamil Nadu government for denying permission for the Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) to undertake campaign tour on these issues.

In a post on X, Stalin sought to know why the TVK government, which has been following Rationalist leader and social reformer Periyar’s ideologies and had publicly announced that he was its ideological leaders, has deployed a large number of police personnel at the Periyar Thidal (Periyar memorial) ahead of the DK’s campaign movement.

In a sharp reaction, he made an unveiled reference to the colours in TVK party flag and said the combination of Red and Yellow only brings out saffron and that it was only following the BJP’s principles.

Seeking to know the reason behind denying permission for the Dravidar Kazhagam’s two-wheeler campaign tour at the last minute, Mr Stalin asked under whose pressure the government was doing this. adding, the TVK government was more scared than the BJP government due to the protests against NEET and EWS.

In the past, the Dravidar Kazhagam, the parent organization of the DMK, has organised similar protests in a very peaceful , moral and dignified manner. “Banning the propaganda campaign of such a movement is strongly condemned”, he said, adding, this confirms that saffron is what is obtained when red and yellow are combined.

The TVK government should abandon the politics of oppression and grant proper permission for DK President K Veeramani, affectionately called as Asiriyar’s (teacher) campaign.
