Chennai, Aug 1:
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, arrived in Chennai from Delhi on Saturday to participate in a party training camp for district presidents being held in Mamallapuram.
The training camp, organised for Tamil Nadu Congress district leaders, has been underway since July 23 at a beach resort owned by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department in Mamallapuram. Rahul Gandhi is attending the concluding session of the camp today.
He was accorded a warm reception by senior Congress leaders at the Chennai airport upon his arrival. However, a brief commotion broke out when party supporters attempted to get closer to greet him. Police personnel on security duty intervened and pushed back the crowd, during which one individual reportedly fell to the ground, causing a momentary stir.
Following his arrival, Rahul Gandhi left for Mamallapuram, where he is scheduled to address the gathering of district leaders. He is also expected to interact with their family members later in the day. Around 4 pm, he will meet and hold discussions with key Congress functionaries.
Additionally, arrangements are being made for Rahul Gandhi to meet the parents of four students from Coimbatore and Salem who reportedly lost their lives in connection with the NEET examination, highlighting the party’s continued focus on the issue
