Tamil Nadu’s left-arm pacer T Natarajan has said that returning to the Tamil Nadu Premier League is “always a special feeling” as he gears up for the tournament’s landmark 10th season, set to begin on Tuesday.
“Playing in the TNPL is always special to me,” Natarajan said, reflecting on the league that played a crucial role in shaping his career. The yorker specialist will once again represent the Tiruppur Tamizhans after being retained for ₹7.50 lakh.
Crediting the league for his rise to national prominence and eventual entry into the Indian Premier League, Natarajan expressed gratitude to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. “It’s because of the TNPL that I got the opportunity to play in the IPL. This initiative has created a wonderful platform for youngsters, especially from small towns and villages, to showcase their talent,” he said. “Coming back here after the IPL gives me immense happiness.”
Looking ahead to the new season, Natarajan emphasised that the team would stick to its tried-and-tested approach. “Even last year, we never focused only on winning the trophy. We took it one match at a time, and that mindset remains the same,” he noted.
The defending champions will open their campaign against the Dindigul Dragons on Tuesday, aiming to build early momentum. “Every team wants to win the title, and we would love to defend ours, but our focus is on the process—starting well and taking it step by step,” Natarajan added.
With experienced players like Natarajan leading the charge, the 10th edition of the TNPL promises another exciting platform for emerging talent and competitive cricket in the state.
