Former South Africa captain and ICC Hall of Famer Graeme Smith has welcomed the return of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup to Africa after more than two decades, saying the continent “deserves” to host another global event.
South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly host the 2027 World Cup, marking the first time the tournament returns to Africa since the 2003 edition.
“It’s been a long time coming since Africa hosted a men’s World Cup again. The vibrancy of these three nations, the quality of players and the fan base certainly deserve a world event,” said Smith.
