The audio and trailer launch of the Tamil film Sei Seiyatha was held at Prasad Lab in Saligramam on Tuesday evening. The event was attended by senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan, who unveiled the trailer and addressed the gathering. The film features H. Raja in a prominent role, drawing attention for the intersection of politics and cinema.

In her address, Tamilisai Soundararajan strongly criticised the Tamil Nadu State Budget, stating that the decision to name as many as 150 schemes under the label “Vettri” (success) was misleading. She described the budget as disappointing and said it had failed to meet public expectations. Emphasising governance accountability, she noted that promises made to the people must be fulfilled and that the government should focus on delivering concrete solutions to pressing issues.

She also spoke about the growing overlap between the film industry and politics, observing that as more film personalities enter political life, politicians are increasingly stepping into cinema. Referring to liquor sales in the state, she remarked that TASMAC outlets continue to operate in the same locations and added that there are indications of liquor being made available online, raising concerns about accessibility.

Highlighting her party’s stance, she said that political power should not be retained at the cost of public welfare. According to her, if governance harms the people, holding on to power is not justified. She further stressed that insulting women must not be tolerated and should invite strict legal consequences. On religious harmony, she said that no faith should be disrespected and that true secularism lies in treating all religions with equal regard.

Speaking at the event, H. Raja, who is also part of the movie, shared personal experiences about his recovery from illness and credited Tamilisai Soundararajan for her support during his treatment. He also recalled that actor Rajinikanth had visited him in the hospital, describing the meeting as memorable. In a lighter vein, he expressed confidence that he would energetically speak at the film’s success celebration, drawing a humorous response from Tamilisai.

The film’s title, Sei Seiyatha, conveys the idea of “doing good and avoiding wrongdoing,” suggesting a socially driven narrative. The launch event not only marked the promotion of the film but also reflected the continuing blend of cinema and politics in Tamil Nadu’s public discourse.
