Chennai, Aug 7

The India SME Forum has launched its report, ‘Digital Bharat: India Digital Procurement Report 2026’, highlighting key trends in MSME procurement and digital adoption. The report was unveiled by Shobha Karandlaje in the presence of Ateesh Kumar Singh and Keshvendra Kumar in New Delhi.

The study estimates India’s MSME procurement economy at ₹124.9 trillion, with only 30–40% currently digital, pointing to significant growth potential. It identifies major challenges such as price volatility, supplier management, and credit constraints, while noting that nearly 80% of MSMEs expect digital procurement to drive business expansion.

Among platforms, Amazon Business ranked highest for price transparency and supplier quality, while Moglix led in industrial procurement solutions. Other platforms like Udaan and IndiaMART continue to play key roles in serving diverse MSME needs.

The report also highlights that procurement decisions remain largely owner-driven, with over 60% handled directly by business owners, underlining the need for simple, accessible digital tools. Ease of ordering, GST-compliant invoicing, wider product selection, and faster delivery are emerging as key factors influencing platform choice.

It further underscores the role of India’s digital public infrastructure, including Aadhaar, UPI and Goods and Services Tax, in accelerating adoption. Concluding, Vinod Kumar said procurement is evolving into a strategic growth driver, with MSMEs increasingly embracing digital and AI-led solutions.
