A delegation of the Joint Action Forum on Minorities, led by Member of Parliament P. Wilson, met the Union Home Minister to raise concerns over the proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).
The delegation, comprising prominent religious leaders from various faiths across India, urged the Centre to withdraw the FCRA Amendment Bill, 2026, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha in March 2026. They also called for the repeal of Section 15 of the FCRA, or alternatively, demanded that the proposed amendments be referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for a comprehensive review along with the implementation of the existing FCRA, 2010.
Citing the potential long-term implications of the proposed changes, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which has opposed the bill from the outset, expressed its support for the delegationâs demands.
The party has urged the Union government to consider the concerns of minorities and take appropriate action during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.
