Chennai, Aug 10:
BJP State president K. Nainar Nagenthran on Sunday called for a shared sense of national pride cutting across political affiliations, asserting that the Tricolour should evoke a collective feeling of “our nation, our country” even among Opposition parties.
He was speaking after leading a Tiranga awareness rally in T Nagar as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign ahead of Independence Day, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for the initiative.
The rally commenced from Thyagaraya Road and culminated at the BJP headquarters, Kamalalayam, drawing participation from over 500 people who carried the national flag and raised patriotic slogans. BJP leaders and functionaries, including Karate R. Thiagarajan, took part in the event.
Addressing the gathering at Kamalalayam, Mr. Nagenthran said patriotism should find greater expression through the display of the national flag. Recalling that the Tricolour was once widely seen across the country, he said the campaign aimed to revive that spirit and encourage people to display it more prominently.
“Not only BJP workers, even if we belong to the Opposition, when we carry the national flag, there should be one feeling and one thought — our nation, our country,” he said.
He added that the rally sought to promote national pride and welcomed the participation of people beyond party lines, including members of traders’ associations, the general public and women.
