Bengaluru,  Aug 12:

Actor Prakash Raj has claimed that his name has been deleted from the electoral roll in Bengaluru following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

In a video shared on social media, Prakash Raj said he was among the voters whose names had been removed during the exercise. He questioned how his name could have been deleted despite being born, raised and educated in Bengaluru and having contested the Lok Sabha election from the constituency.

Prakash Raj contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Bengaluru Central as an independent candidate.

The development comes amid an ongoing controversy surrounding his voter registrations. A case had earlier been filed in Bengaluru alleging that he held voter identity cards in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Under election rules, a person can be registered as a voter in only one constituency.

He was issued a non-bailable warrant in June 2026 after failing to appear before the court and subsequently appeared in July and secured bail.

The SIR exercise in Bengaluru is scheduled to conclude on August 17. Draft electoral rolls will be published on August 24, following which voters can seek inclusion or corrections until September 23. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 27.
