Chennai, Aug 13:
The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department has extended the deadline for submitting applications for the appointment of non-hereditary trustees to 220 temples under its control till August 28.
The applications can now be submitted until 5.45 pm on August 28, giving additional time to devotees and other eligible persons interested in serving as non-hereditary trustees.
The department had originally invited applications from eligible persons on June 14 under Section 46 (iii) of the relevant provisions governing the administration of Hindu religious institutions. The original deadline for submitting applications was fixed as July 22.
Subsequently, considering the requests received from interested persons, the HR&CE Department extended the deadline to August 12. The department has now decided to provide another opportunity by further extending the application window till August 28.
The appointment of non-hereditary trustees is aimed at ensuring the proper administration and management of temples under the control of the HR&CE Department. Trustees play an important role in overseeing temple affairs, including the preservation of temple properties and ensuring that the institutions are administered in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
The latest extension is expected to provide more time for eligible applicants who were unable to submit their applications within the earlier deadlines.
Interested persons can obtain and submit the prescribed application forms through the designated channels. Applications may be submitted online, in person or by post to the office of the concerned Regional Joint Commissioner of the HR&CE Department.
Applicants have been advised to ensure that their forms are duly filled in and reach the concerned office before the revised deadline.
With the deadline now extended to August 28, the department has urged eligible persons interested in taking up the responsibility of serving as non-hereditary trustees to make use of the additional time and submit their applications within the stipulated period.
