Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday paid glowing tributes to former Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan on his first death anniversary and later released a book of late Hindu Munnani leader Rama Gopalan in Chennai.
Speaking at a function held to mark his first death anniversary and inaugurating the ‘Ala. Ila Trust’ established in his memory, the Vice President said Ganesan’s life was marked by tireless effort, perseverance and dedication.
He said he viewed the establishment of the ‘Ala.Ila Foundation’ as an effort to preserve Ganesan’s memory and carry forward his ideals and welcomed the Foundation’s initiative to provide educational scholarships to the next generation.
Mr Radhakrishnan recalled Ganesan’s strong opposition to the Emergency, during which he lived underground for nearly a year. His commitment and hard work during that period, he said, were extraordinary.
Later, the Vice President released the book ‘Echoes of a Nationalist Mind’ on the thoughts and writings of Hindu Munnani Founder Late Rama Gopalan in another event in the city.
