Legendary composer A.R. Rahman has launched Tamil Idol, a new reality show aimed at discovering the next extraordinary Tamil voice.
The show, launched in collaboration with new entertainment channel Sony Vizha, is produced by Fremantle India and will stream on Sony Vizha and Sony LIV.
Announcing the launch on social media, Rahman said auditions would begin on Monday and invited aspiring singers from across Tamil Nadu to register through the Sony LIV app.
“The search for new voices is at the heart of music,” Rahman said, adding that Tamil Idol would bring together talented voices from across Tamil Nadu and provide them with a platform to be celebrated.
The makers said the show, with Rahman leading the search, aims to discover, celebrate and nurture emerging Tamil singing talent.
