Chennai, Aug 18:

A Tamil Nadu Roundtable organised by an english magazine in Chennai on Monday to  ark 100 days of TVK governance headed by Chief Minister Vijay, brought together leading voices from politics, governance, business and entertainment to discuss the State’s evolving political landscape, economic growth, governance priorities and the way forward.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the Roundtable, marking his first media interaction since assuming office in May following the state assembly elections.

Coinciding with the first 100 days of the Vijay-led TVK government, the event examined the governmen’s early performance, the political and governance challenges before Tamil Nadu, and the aspirations shaping the state’s future.

The Chief Minister also launched the India Today Tamil YouTube channel, a dedicated digital platform offering focused and in-depth coverage of Tamil Nadu.

At the launch, Vijay called for a stronger commitment to credible journalism, urging the media to ensure that truth remains at the centre of public discourse. The launch of India Today Tamil marks another step in its efforts to deepen its regional digital presence and bring focused coverage of Tamil Nadu’s politics, governance, economy, culture and society to audiences across platforms.

It featured discussions on the first 100 days of the TVK government and the changing political dynamics of Tamil Nadu.

Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai, who recently launched his own outfit, assessed the government’s initial performance and described the emergence of young legislators and changes in political
culture as positive developments. He also spoke about corruption, governance and the need for a clearly articulated political vision.

Speaking about the broader political landscape, Annamalai argued that Tamil Nadu was witnessing a shift in voter expectations and questioned the long-term relevance of
traditional Dravidian political formations, while taking a dig at what he described as a Gujarat-centric approach to development, arguing that investments, technology projects and major
national events should not be concentrated in a single state.

The discussions also touched upon the future of Tamil Nadu politics, dynastic politics and the changing expectations of voters. Annamalai said he believed Tamil Nadu needed a
political force whose leadership and priorities were rooted in the state, while also explaining his decision to leave the BJP and citing disagreements with its Delhi-centric decision-making.
