Chennai/New Delhi, Aug 20:
LThe Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested the Deputy Controller of Accounts, working as Internal Financial Advisor (IFA), in the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), in a bribery case.
The CBI registered a case yesterday on a complaint alleging that the accused Deputy Controller of Accounts (ICAS:2020 demanded an
undue advantage of Rs. 15 lakh from the complainant to expeditiously process the file pertaining to renewal of a private company’s contract, pending before him.
After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. ten lakhs from the complainant. The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused public servant for accepting the bribe amount through
his wife.
He was subsequently apprehended and further investigation is underway.
The strict action by the CBI against corrupt public servants underscores its firm commitment to curbing corruption. Citizens who come
across instances of corruption or are subjected to demands for bribes by public officials are encouraged to report such matters.
