Colombo, Aug. 24:
India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant retired hurt after facing just 15 balls on the opening day of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo, raising concerns over his fitness.
Pant was batting on three when he was struck on his left wrist by a delivery from Lahiru Kumara. After receiving treatment from the team physio, Pant was unable to continue and walked off the field. He is expected to bat on the second day, subject to his fitness.
The injury came on a day when India were otherwise in a strong position. Devdutt Padikkal hit a century to anchor the innings, while Ravindra Jadeja was unbeaten on 43 at stumps as India reached 300 for five.
