Minister Anand chairs monsoon preparedness review

Chennai, Aug 25:

Acting on the directions of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, a high-level review meeting on monsoon preparedness was held at the Secretariat in Chennai on Monday under the chairmanship of Rural Development and Water Resources Minister N. Anand.

The meeting reviewed various precautionary measures to be taken ahead of the monsoon, the present condition of water bodies and waterways, and steps required to ensure the free flow and drainage of rainwater.

Measures to prevent waterlogging, remove obstructions in water channels and strengthen coordination among departments to minimise the impact of heavy rains were also discussed.

Water Resources Department Secretary Prashant M. Vadnere, Special Secretary Sridharan, Chief Engineer Gopalakrishnan, Chennai Region Chief Engineer Janaki, Superintending Engineer Mariappan and other departmental officials participated in the meeting.
