Beijing, Aug 26:
India and China underlined the importance of stable and cooperative relations during talks between National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.
The meeting was held during the 25th round of talks between the Special Representatives of the two countries on the boundary question.
Wang described India and China as important neighbours and major developing economies, saying stable relations between the two countries served the interests of both nations and carried significance beyond the bilateral relationship.
Doval, meanwhile, described India and China as ancient civilisations, populous nations and major economies, and stressed that the two countries should view each other as partners rather than competitors.
The talks reflected continuing efforts by New Delhi and Beijing to stabilise bilateral relations following years of tension, particularly along the Line of Actual Control.
Both sides are expected to continue diplomatic and security-level engagement to address outstanding issues and improve the broader relationship.
