CM Reviews Nepal Relief and Rescue Operations

Chennai, Aug 27 :

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay chaired a high-level review meeting on Thursday to oversee relief and rescue operations following the tragic incident in Nepal and directed officials to intensify efforts to ensure the safe return of survivors.

The Chief Minister directed the Resident Commissioner of Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi, Ashish Kumar, IAS, along with a team of officials, to proceed to Kathmandu to coordinate with Nepalese authorities and supervise relief and rescue operations.

He also instructed four Tamil Nadu Ministers handling the Public Works, School Education, Agriculture and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare portfolios to rush to New Delhi and coordinate with the Union Government.

The Ministers will monitor the rescue and relief operations, facilitate the safe and speedy return of those rescued and ensure immediate medical assistance wherever required.

The Chief Minister is closely monitoring the situation and has directed all departments concerned to take every possible step to support those affected and bring survivors back safely.
