Chennai, Aug 28:
The Tamil Nadu government has announced the ‘Agam’ housing scheme to provide 2,500 permanent concrete houses to sanitation workers who lack adequate housing.
Social Justice Minister Vanni Arasu made the announcement while presenting the department’s demands for grants in the Assembly. The scheme aims to provide sanitation workers and their families with safe and dignified living conditions.
The housing initiative was among 67 major announcements made by the minister. The government also announced plans to establish a Tribal Cultural Centre at Nandanam in Chennai to promote and preserve the traditions and art forms of Tamil Nadu’s tribal communities.
