New Delhi,  Aug 31:

More than 2.65 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET-PG 2026 examination conducted across the country on Sunday, while 2,445 candidates affected by a technical disruption at two centres in Jaipur will get another opportunity to take the examination on September 5.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) said the examination was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates at 1,111 centres spread across 339 cities in all 36 States and Union Territories.

A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the examination, with the test successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates.

The examination was conducted with extensive logistical, technological and security arrangements, with government agencies assisting in ensuring its smooth conduct.

However, candidates at two examination centres in Jaipur’s Sitapura area faced technical problems linked to internal power supply. The disruption affected 2,445 candidates and prevented them from completing the examination.

The affected centres were iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura Centres, identified as TC Nos. 41682 and 41683. NBEMS attributed the disruption to internal power supply issues at the centres and said the examination conducting agency was responsible for the arrangements.

Following the disruption, NBEMS apologised to the affected candidates and announced a re-examination to ensure that they were not disadvantaged.

The re-examination will be held on September 5 at 3 pm in Jaipur. Details regarding the venue and other instructions will be communicated directly to the candidates concerned.

The NEET-PG examination is conducted for admission to postgraduate medical courses across the country. Given the large number of candidates competing for limited seats, any disruption can have a significant impact on students.

NBEMS said the overwhelming majority of candidates completed the examination successfully and appreciated the cooperation of candidates, medical institutions, security agencies, technology teams and other personnel involved in conducting the nationwide examination.

The re-examination is expected to provide the affected candidates with a fair and equal opportunity to compete for postgraduate medical seats.
