Chennai, Aug. 31:
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government has cancelled the Kanchipuram New Town Development and Heritage Revival Plan, revoking a government gazette notification issued during the previous DMK regime in 2023.
In 2023, the then DMK government had notified the Kanchipuram New Town over an area of 62.78 sq km, covering 18 villages, as part of its planned urban development initiative.
The latest order withdraws the earlier gazette notification, effectively scrapping the proposed new town development and heritage revival framework for the region.
