Chennai, Sept 2:
Income Tax officials are conducting searches at more than 20 premises linked to prominent fertility centres in Chennai and Madurai on Wednesday, in what is believed to be an investigation into alleged tax irregularities.
In Chennai, searches are underway at premises of Aishwarya Fertility Centre and ARC Fertility Centre, among others. The locations include Adyar, Taramani, Velachery, Madhavaram, Maduravoyal and Perambur.
More than 20 Income Tax officials arrived in several vehicles and are carrying out searches at the premises. An Income Tax search is also underway at the ARC Fertility Centre in Perambur.
The searches reportedly cover multiple establishments associated with fertility and reproductive healthcare services. Further details regarding the findings of the searches are awaited.
