Chennai, Sept 3:
PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss has once again reaffirmed his decision to retire from active politics, asking visitors at his Thailapuram residence not to discuss politics with him.
Ramadoss is currently resting at his Thailapuram garden house near Tindivanam in Villupuram district. A notice board put up at the residence states that he has undertaken “political retirement” and requests visitors to refrain from discussing political matters with him.
The announcement comes after Ramadoss declared at his birthday function at Saraswathi College in Konerikuppam on July 25 that he was stepping away from politics with immediate effect. He had said that his son and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss would look after the party’s affairs and that nobody should discuss politics with him thereafter.
Following the announcement, Ramadoss has been staying at Thailapuram, where party functionaries and cadres have been visiting him to enquire about his health.
The latest notice at the residence specifically reiterates his political retirement. It also says visitors can meet him between 10 am and noon every day, while making it clear that political discussions are not welcome.
Ramadoss’ decision comes against the backdrop of a prolonged power struggle within the PMK between him and Anbumani over control of the party.
The differences had led both leaders to conduct party activities separately and announce their own sets of functionaries, resulting in confusion and dissatisfaction among cadres.
The differences reportedly came to an end after the 2026 Assembly election results, when Anbumani, accompanied by his family, visited Thailapuram and sought the blessings of Ramadoss and his wife Saraswathi.
With the family dispute apparently settled and Ramadoss maintaining his decision to stay away from active politics, the latest notice has further reinforced his stated position.
