Chennai, Sept 15:
Fever cases have been increasing in Chennai and its suburban areas, with Adyar, Anna Nagar and Valasaravakkam emerging as major hotspots amid a rise in dengue infections.
According to health officials, around 4,500 people reported fever symptoms in Chennai during August, of whom 160 were diagnosed with dengue. In the first 10 days of September, more than 2,000 people have reported fever symptoms across the city and suburbs.
Of these, dengue has been confirmed in 140 cases, indicating a rise in the proportion of dengue infections among those reporting fever. The increase has been particularly noticeable in areas coming under the Adyar, Anna Nagar and Valasaravakkam zones.
Doctors have advised residents to remain cautious as viral infections and dengue continue to circulate. They have stressed the importance of preventing mosquito breeding and seeking medical attention if fever persists or dengue-related symptoms develop.
