New Delhi, Sept 16:
India’s Shree Charani has strengthened her position at the top of the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings, achieving a career-best rating of 804 points and becoming the first Indian bowler to cross the 800-point mark.
Charani’s rise comes after India’s successful Women’s Asia Cup campaign and puts her within striking distance of the all-time record rating for a women’s T20I bowler. She has emerged as one of India’s key bowling options in the shortest format despite making her international debut only in 2025.
The left-arm spinner’s latest rating reflects her consistent performances during the tournament. Her rise to 804 points also places her among the small group of bowlers to have crossed the 800-point barrier in the women’s T20I format.
India’s gains were not restricted to Charani. All-rounder Deepti Sharma has climbed to second place in the T20I bowling rankings following her strong showing in the Asia Cup. Deepti was among India’s leading wicket-takers during the tournament and has moved up the rankings on the back of her performances.
The rankings underline the strength of India’s bowling attack in the format, with Charani occupying the top position and Deepti now her closest Indian challenger. Their rise comes at an important stage of India’s international calendar, with the team also preparing for the Asian Games.
India’s batting group has also made progress in the latest rankings, with Shafali Verma returning to the top six. The tournament has therefore translated into significant individual gains for several Indian players.
Charani’s achievement is particularly notable given her rapid rise in international cricket. Having made her T20I debut only last year, she has quickly established herself as a leading spinner and now has a career-best 804 rating points to show for her progress.
