Chennai, Sept 17:
Several sewage pumping stations in Royapuram and Teynampet zones will remain temporarily non-operational for 16 hours from 10 p.m. on September 18 to 2 p.m. on September 19, the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced.
The temporary suspension is being carried out to facilitate pipeline interlinking works by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on Ramakrishna Mutt Road near Thirumayilai MRTS station.
In Royapuram zone, the Parthethotam Sewage Pumping Station will be affected.
In Teynampet zone, the pumping stations at Ice House, Chinna Thambi Street, Arunachalam Street, Parthasarathy Street, Nadukuppam, Ayothiya Kuppam, Ram Nagar and TS Park will remain shut during the period.
The CMWSSB has advised residents in the affected areas to take note of the temporary suspension. People facing sewage-related problems or overflow during the shutdown can contact the respective area engineers.
Residents in Royapuram can contact the area engineer at 81449 30905, while those in Teynampet can contact the engineer at 81449 30909.
The temporary measure is being implemented to facilitate the pipeline interlinking work while minimising disruption to the ongoing infrastructure activities.
