Nairobi, Sept 18:
Three Indian nationals from Punjab who were kidnapped in Kenya have been rescued and safely repatriated to India, the Indian High Commission in Nairobi said.
The High Commission said it facilitated the rescue, ensured the safety of the three Indians and arranged their repatriation following their kidnapping in Kenya.
The mission thanked Kenyan authorities, particularly the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), for what it described as swift action and a proactive approach in securing the victims.
According to the Kenyan DCI, the three Indians were kidnapped shortly after arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. They were subsequently rescued following intelligence-led investigations and coordinated action by Kenyan security agencies.
The DCI’s Operations Support Unit arrested six suspects in connection with the kidnapping and rescued the three Indian nationals.
The Indian mission said it had worked closely with the Kenyan authorities throughout the operation to ensure the safety and return of the victims.
The incident highlights the importance of coordination between Indian diplomatic missions and local law enforcement agencies in cases involving Indian nationals facing serious threats abroad.
