NEW DELHI:
The Ministry of External Affairs has opened applications for its October 2026 internship programme, offering young graduates and final-year students an opportunity to undergo an internship at the ministry’s headquarters in New Delhi.
The internship will run from October 2026 to March 2027. Indian citizens who are graduates or students in the final year of their bachelor’s degree, subject to the eligibility conditions, can apply. Candidates should not be above 25 years of age as on December 31, 2026.
Applications can be submitted through the MEA internship portal until September 27. The ministry plans to select up to 30 interns for the programme.
Selected interns will receive an honorarium of Rs 10,000 per month. The ministry will also reimburse the cost of one round-trip air journey between Delhi and the candidate’s State capital or university, subject to the prescribed ceiling. Accommodation and food expenses in Delhi will have to be borne by the interns.
The selection process includes preliminary online screening followed by a virtual personal interview. The programme is intended to give young people exposure to the functioning of the Ministry of External Affairs and India’s diplomatic work.
