Actor Raghava Lawrence is set to portray the legendary Mahabharata warrior Karna in Mahaveer Karna, a grand five-language cinematic spectacle to be directed by Ramesh Varma.
Presented by Pen Movies’ Jayantilal Gada in association with RV Studios and Sri Neeladri Productions, the film is being mounted on a reported budget of ₹150 crore. It will be made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada, with a worldwide release planned for 2027.
The makers are planning an elaborate visual world, with specially constructed sets, period designs, large-scale action sequences and extensive visual effects. The film will recreate majestic kingdoms, ancient battlefields and war sequences while combining physical sets with VFX to create an expansive period setting.
At the centre of the story will be Karna, portrayed as a warrior driven by honour, destiny, loyalty and sacrifice. The makers have said the remaining cast and crew will be announced one by one.
With Lawrence taking on the iconic role and Ramesh Varma at the helm, Mahaveer Karna is being positioned as an ambitious Indian epic built around scale, emotion, action and visual spectacle.
