Music composer Ilaiyaraaja has been honoured at the Parliament of Australia with a ceremonial stamp commemorating his 50-year journey in cinema. He thanked Australian government officials and Parliament members for the recognition.
In a message, Ilaiyaraaja described the honour as touching, recalling his journey from a remote village in Tamil Nadu to being recognised at an Australian Parliament.
As part of his golden jubilee celebrations, Ilaiyaraaja is currently on an international concert tour. He is scheduled to perform in Sydney on September 26 and Brisbane on October 5.
