Baku, Sept 24:
French driver Isack Hadjar will remain alongside four-time world champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull for the 2027 Formula One season after the team extended his contract.
The 21-year-old was promoted to Red Bull this season following an impressive debut campaign with Racing Bulls. He has made an encouraging start to his second Formula One season, scoring points in eight of the 11 races he has contested and recording a podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Hadjar currently occupies eighth place in the drivers’ championship with 71 points. He missed the last three races because of a wrist injury but is expected to return at this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies said the team was excited to continue working with Hadjar and praised his performances both on and off the track. Mekies said the driver’s progress was particularly impressive considering that he is only in his second F1 season.
Hadjar’s continuation also means Red Bull will retain an unchanged driver pairing for 2027. Verstappen recently agreed a new contract that will keep him with the team until the end of 2030, giving Red Bull greater continuity as it prepares for the next phase of Formula One competition.
Hadjar said he was grateful for the confidence shown by the team and that he had been determined to justify the faith placed in him. He added that he remained focused on learning, improving and pushing himself further.
The Frenchman’s extension comes at an important stage in his career as he seeks to establish himself among Formula One’s leading drivers. His return from injury at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will provide an immediate opportunity to continue the progress that earned him a place alongside Verstappen.
