NEW DELHI:
The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of the country on Thursday, with Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh among the areas expected to receive intense rain.
The weather system has triggered warnings for thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and squally conditions in several regions. The IMD has also warned of strong winds accompanying rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Odisha has been preparing for the impact of the deep depression, with authorities identifying vulnerable areas and strengthening emergency arrangements. The system is expected to influence weather conditions along parts of the eastern coast.
Meanwhile, Delhi is expected to remain dry on Thursday. The southwest monsoon withdrew from Delhi on September 23, two days ahead of its normal withdrawal date of September 25.
