Several parts of India are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall as a weather system over eastern India continues to influence conditions across Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and neighbouring States.
The India Meteorological Department has issued rainfall warnings for several regions, with a deep depression over Odisha weakening as it moves north-northwest. Heavy rainfall is expected in parts of eastern and central India.
The weather system had earlier moved towards the Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coast after developing over the Bay of Bengal. The system brought heavy rainfall to several areas of eastern India.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has begun its withdrawal from parts of west Rajasthan, marking the beginning of the seasonal retreat. However, a substantial portion of the country continues to face rainfall deficiency.
The IMD has advised residents in areas under heavy-rain warnings to follow local weather alerts and take necessary precautions, particularly in vulnerable areas where intense rainfall could lead to waterlogging, flooding and landslides.
