Tiruppur, Oct 1:
Tamil Nadu Minister K G Arunraj on Wednesday described Chief Minister and TVK president C Joseph Vijay as the most popular leader in India and claimed that the 2026 Assembly election verdict reflected the people’s political understanding.
Speaking at a TVK meeting in Dharapuram, Arunraj said the Opposition parties would remain in the Opposition as long as the TVK existed. He also praised voters in the Kongu region for helping the TVK win 28 of the 60 seats in the region.
Arunraj alleged that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami had held talks with the DMK and questioned whether he could swear that no such discussions had taken place.
He also alleged that the DMK and AIADMK had entered into an understanding for the upcoming by-elections, claiming that a “deal” had been discussed under which Madurantakam would go to the DMK and Dharapuram to the AIADMK. These were allegations made by Arunraj in his speech.
Referring to the 2026 Assembly election, Arunraj said the TVK’s performance was not an accident but reflected how the people of Tamil Nadu had understood and voted on politics.
He further alleged that the two parties were moving towards an indirect alliance because of concerns about returning to power, and said the alleged understanding would become evident in the by-elections.
