Dharapuram, Oct 2:
DMK president and former Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday campaigned in Dharapuram Assembly constituency in support of party candidate Suganya, who is contesting the by-election.
Stalin conducted a roadshow in Dharapuram, beginning from the Amaravathi statue and proceeding through Pollachi Road and Periyakadai Veethi. DMK workers and supporters gave him an enthusiastic welcome along the route as he travelled through the town.
During the roadshow, members of the public presented Stalin with books, bouquets and shawls. The DMK leader acknowledged the greetings as he travelled through the streets, with party cadres gathering along the route to welcome him.
After completing the roadshow, Stalin visited shops in the Periyakadai Veethi area and personally met members of the public. He sought their support for the DMK candidate in the Dharapuram by-election and interacted with people in the commercial area.
Several members of the public also took photographs with Stalin during his interaction with them. The campaign was part of the DMK’s efforts to mobilise support for Suganya ahead of the Dharapuram (Reserved) Assembly constituency by-election.
The roadshow comes amid an active campaign in Dharapuram, where the DMK and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam have been conducting programmes to reach voters ahead of the by-election.
