Chennai Metro Phase II construction has achieved another milestone with a tunnel boring machine completing a tunnel breakthrough at RK Salai station as part of the underground construction works.
The breakthrough is part of the ongoing tunnelling works being carried out for the Phase II network, which is being developed to expand Chennai’s Metro connectivity across several major corridors.
The latest tunnelling milestone is expected to facilitate the subsequent stages of underground construction and station-related works in the area.
Chennai Metro Phase II involves extensive underground and elevated construction, including tunnels, stations and associated infrastructure. The project is aimed at providing additional mass-transit connectivity and improving links between important residential, commercial and transport hubs in the city.
The latest breakthrough comes amid a series of tunnelling milestones achieved by Chennai Metro in different parts of the Phase II network.
