Chennai, Oct 8:
The Tamil Nadu government has extended the ‘Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam’ to women from the State who are currently residing outside Tamil Nadu.
Women whose native place is in Tamil Nadu can avail themselves of the gold ring under the scheme if they meet the prescribed conditions. The delivery of their child must take place at a government hospital in Tamil Nadu and their parents must be permanent residents of the State.
Eligible women have to submit valid documents to avail themselves of the benefit. The government said the extension would benefit women who have moved to other States but continue to have their family roots in Tamil Nadu.
As part of the expanded scheme, Uma Maheshwari, a native of Karaikudi who is currently residing in Karnataka, received a gold ring after delivering her child.
The expanded eligibility came into effect on June 22.
