Chennai, Oct 8:

The Department of Communication, Madras Christian College (MCC), has launched “POV – Perfect Original Version”, a social awareness campaign aimed at challenging appearance-based stereotypes, body shaming and digital beauty standards.

The first day of the campaign was held at MCCRSL Higher Secondary School, Tambaram, on Wednesday. Through puppetry, dance and interactive activities, the campaign seeks to encourage students to question societal perceptions, embrace differences and promote empathy, equality and self-acceptance.

Dr Deborah Raj, Head of the Department of Communication, said education should not be limited to academic achievement but should also foster empathy and inclusivity. Student Convenor Monika said the campaign aims to convey that a person’s appearance or body type does not determine their worth. The initiative is supported by Sri Vishnu Constructions and Kalaivani’s Sweets and Snacks.
