Chennai, Oct 10:
Chennai will be placed under five-tier security with 22,000 police personnel deployed tomorrow ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to inaugurate development projects, including the Porur–Poonamallee Metro Rail service.
Modi is scheduled to arrive at Chennai airport around 11.15 am and travel to Porur, where he will inaugurate the Metro service along with Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. The two are also expected to travel by Metro. Modi will subsequently visit the Sri Aadhi Kubera Jhalakandeswarar Temple in Porur before attending programmes at IIT Madras in Guindy and Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam. He is scheduled to leave for Delhi at 4 pm.
Security has been intensified at the airport, railway stations, bus terminals and other crowded locations. Special arrangements are being made at the airport, Porur Metro station, IIT Madras and Chennai Trade Centre. Surveillance and vehicle checks have been stepped up, while drone flights and hot-air balloons will be prohibited in designated areas.
