Chennai,  Oct 10:
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) recovered a bag containing valuables worth ₹1.30 lakh left behind on a Vande Bharat Express train that arrived at Chennai Central from Coimbatore. The recovered items were subsequently handed over to their rightful owner after verification.
The incident occurred when the train reached Chennai Central on Thursday. After all passengers had disembarked, RPF personnel inspected the coaches as part of their routine checks and found an unattended bag in one of them.
On examining the bag, the personnel found an expensive mobile phone valued at ₹1.20 lakh and ₹10,000 in cash. The police secured the belongings and initiated steps to trace the passenger who had left them behind.
Meanwhile, the passenger, who had realised that the bag was missing, approached the police in distress. The RPF personnel checked the passenger’s ticket and other relevant details to establish ownership.
After confirming that the bag belonged to the passenger, the police handed over the mobile phone and cash safely. The recovery ensured that the passenger did not lose valuables worth ₹1.30 lakh.
