New Delhi, Oct 12:
India has strongly condemned repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh after an Indian national injured in an earlier strike died, taking the death toll in the latest attack to at least 13, according to reports.
The Ministry of External Affairs expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. It also reaffirmed India’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and called for an immediate end to attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The October 10 attack reportedly killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300 others. The death of the Indian national on Sunday increased the toll. The latest strike followed earlier attacks on Saudi airports during the continuing conflict in West Asia.
India described the repeated attacks on Riyadh airport as unacceptable and said it stood with the Saudi government in defending the Kingdom’s sovereignty. The government has also urged Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant and follow instructions issued by local authorities.
Saudi Arabia is home to approximately 2.74 million Indians, including skilled and semi-skilled workers. The developments have therefore raised concerns about the safety of the Indian community as hostilities continue.
The attacks have increased pressure for stronger security measures around civilian infrastructure and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation. India has called for peace and stability to return to the region at the earliest.
