Chennai, Oct 12:
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol. Thirumavalavan has accused the DMK of failing to make efforts to retain its alliance partners, saying the party could have returned to power if it had handled its allies better.
Speaking at a public meeting in Tindivanam on Sunday, he said VCK had joined the TVK-led coalition government because of its commitment to principles and ideological consistency. He said his party had long advocated coalition governance in Tamil Nadu and that the opportunity had now materialised without any bargaining or lobbying.
Thirumavalavan also recalled the criticism VCK faced from caste- and religion-based groups when it was part of the DMK-led alliance. Referring to the recent bypolls, he dismissed claims that PMK votes had helped TVK win in Madurantakam, arguing that PMK voters would not support an alliance that included VCK, given the party’s long-standing opposition to alliances with PMK and BJP.
